walking in new shoes now*

You guys, I can’t even tell you how much I love my new kicks. Granted, I have not been a first-person witness to jogging shoe technology since circa 1997, so it might be old news to you that they are so light! So airy! So weightless! So comfy! It’s like walking on a cloud!

I bought these late at night on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki during my vacation, taking advantage of a) the wonderful 4.7% sales tax rate, b) my boyfriend going to sleep at like 9:30 every night so we could get up at ungodly 6:30am, and c) the crazy late hours of the stores. It’s a treat to get kicked out of Forever 21 at 11pm cos where else am I ever gonna experience that? It’s like when you’re a drinking enthusiast and you go somewhere the bars stay open way later than your town; it feels like Christmas! So color me stoked to be in the Foot Locker trying on neon-colored Nikes past 10 o’clock on a schoolnight.

I don’t even think the pictures do justice to just how retina-scorching this color is. They are BRIGHT. They are eye-gougingly bright. They make strangers comment to you about how bright they are. Do not buy these if you are not into randoms accosting you on the street talking about “Those are some bright-ass shoes”.

Nike Free Fit 2, $90 at Foot Locker. Floral jeans by Dorothy Perkins, $46 after e-mail signup discount. Top by H&M, $6. Sweater with scarf by Rodarte for Target, old, $12 on eBay. Fuchsia rubber bracelet, $28 from Marc by Marc Jacobs at Honolulu International Airport. Watch by Michael Kors, $185 new from seller timeforwatches on eBay. Sunglasses, $7 from Forever 21.
